On Thursday, September 26th the award ceremony for the 2019 Mauricie Star Exporters Awards presented by Carrefour Quebec International took place. This prize recognizes the successes of exporters in our region. During this excellent networking dinner at Gare Maritime in Trois-Rivières, Rito Mints was awarded the palm in the “Export Leader” category.
Peter Nassif and Stephan Leclerc, proprietors of Rito Mints, were present to receive the prestigious CQI award. Both were touched and very proud for this recognition and honour: “Our efforts have paid off,” explains Peter Nassif. “This award is the crown on a nearly year-long race against time to rebuild our factory and return to our leader status of the American markets and hopefully, in the future, the European markets.”
This business, a world leader in mint exportation, is gradually resuming production on their famous peppermints and their popular Conversation Hearts. Less than one year after a severe fire ravaged their previous premises, the two entrepreneurs built an entirely new factory and modernized their equipment in order to grow their productivity.
This forced stop to production last October did not prevent the team from returning to the market and defending its position as leader, notably thanks to its longstanding partners, suppliers, and loyal clients.
Peter Nassif and Stephan Leclerc decided to stay in Trois-Rivières in order to rebuild the factory, since that is where Rito Mints was founded. From its seat in Mauricie, they make up a large part of the North American market, and are now setting their sights on the European one.
